In addition to her work as an artist, Sophia is also a Jewish educator and officiant who has worked with over 40 B’ Mitzvah students across the country, both virtually and in-person.  Sophia also helps design and officiate personalized B'nai Mitzvah services for families unaffiliated with a synagogue or hoping for more of an independent service. Since 2022, Sophia has guided students from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds—some starting with little or no Hebrew knowledge, others attending Jewish day schools or Hebrew schools. With a personalized approach, Sophia designs individualized learning plans that meet each student where they are, helping them discover their own voice and form a personal connection to Judaism. Sophia's love of Jewish learning and song comes from her own pluralistic background—attending Jewish day schools (Oakland Hebrew Day School and Jewish Community High School of the Bay), summers at Camp Stone, and a gap year in Israel studying at Midrasha and volunteering as a medical clown in a Jerusalem hospital. Parents and students alike describe her as warm, patient, and creative, making lessons fun while building pride and excitement for this milestone.
